THE HELP SQUAD

RETURN TO THE PAST Starting on Friday, the 24th day of February 2006, the Hamilton Reading Challenge started. The library will be checking out about six hundred books a week. Hamilton School's librarian said that the students can come before their library time, and return their finished book and check another one out. This can only happen on Monday mornings and Tuesday mornings. Mrs Reyez, the librarian, said that many years ago that's all that happened all week long, because there was a librarian in the school all week. They could check in and out all the time. She also said that some of the teachers have been telling their students to only check out chapter books. In the chapter books every twenty pages read counts as one book. Teachers could ask for extra periods of time for their students to read or find a different book. The teachers are taking away easy readers because otherwise the lower elementary always wins. More children will be reading challenging books. This is also a time to improve your reading level. It will be more of a challenge. So as you can see, all students at Hamilton are trying to read as many books as they can. The librarian is working very hard. This is the month to shine! GOOD LUCK! |
