Fall Semester 2004 GAP
1 semester ½ credit Grades 11-12
Prerequisite: Application and Interview
Course Description: This class enhances student connectedness within the school,
builds relationships between students and staff, prepares students to be productive
citizens in their school, community, and develops students to be future leaders.
Students are required to facilitate the leadership program during three lunch periods
each week.
Goals of the Class:
Support ninth graders with upper classman mentor and an adult advisor
Orientation of school policies, layout, procedures and programs
Participate in study teams and teach effective study skills
Increase student awareness for academic and co-curricular opportunities
Improves the students ability to work effectively in groups
Students will practice good communication skills both verbal and nonverbal
Facilitate reflective learning that can be applied to real life situations
Foster a self confidence and self potential
Promote a commitment to good citizenship (both in and out of school)
