Home Coming

The Home Coming Dance is Saturday, March 17th from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. at John Glenn High School. Please enter through the back of the building. Please make sure all students have a school I.D. to present at the door to be admitted. 

Parking Permits

It's that time of year! It's cold outside! If you are driving for the winter months stip in the office and get the paperwork for a parking permit. The cost is $25.00 per year. If you have any questions see Mrs. Hayter in the main office. Remember you need a parking permit to park on school premises. 

Fitness Center

The John Glenn fitness center will be open on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. All John Glenn students are welcome to use the fitness center for an extra workout. 


Yearbooks are now on sale for $75 each. 


Free tutoring on select Thursday nights 5:30-7:30 during the school year. Student ID required!! It must be a current John Glenn ID. Students without the appropriate ID card will be turned away. 

2016-17 JG Athletic News

This is a reminder for all students who want to participate in a John Glenn athletic team during the 2017-18 school year.   Students and parents must complete the online athletic registration and turn in an athletic physical form before you will be allowed to tryout or practice with any team.  The athletic registration information is available on the athletic website at  Both student and parents must complete parts of the registration.  Athletic physical forms are available in the main office and in the athletic registration tab of  Completed forms must be turned in to the main office.

Testing Out

If you are interested in testing out please see your Counselor first to be approved. Once you are approved please see Mrs. Hayter in the main office.  

Attention Clubs

Anti Bullying Club

We will be meeting on select Wednesdays from 2 – 3:00 in room 123. Come make JGHS a better place. 

Art Club

Art club will be held every Thursday from 2-3pm in room 197. This year we will be working with paint, pencils, clay, tye-dye and much more. Come and release your creative side!

Comic Book Club

We have a new club here at John Glenn. The comic book club will meet on select Thursdays after school at 2:10 p.m. in room 112. Be sure to go to room 112 to take part in the best club ever. If you have any questions please see Mr. Henzi in room 112.

Fishing for Friends in Faith (4F Club)

We will be holding meetings in room 192 from 2:30-3:00 every Wednesday.  Come join us and learn new things, make new friends, or just come by to see what the club is all about.

French Club

To enrich French students of the French language and culture, to allow other students and staff to gain an increased awareness of our French program. We meet every Monday 2:10 - 3:00 in room 129 (some days are longer due to longer activities).

Interact Club

Are you a leader? Do you enjoy serving your community & helping others? The Interact Club is for you. We will work closely with Westland Rotary and complete community service projects. 

John Glenn History Club

To provide extra opportunities for students to engage in the study of history. Students can come involved in historical competitions, such as National History Day and collaborate on historical projects. We meet every second and fourth Thursday of every month in Mrs. Anderson room. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Anderson.


The new Metropolitan Detroit club of the National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Club, Inc. is currently offering high school senior scholarships to June 2018 graduates. Applications are available in the counseling office. Due date is February 17, 2018.

The 2018 MEA Association Scholarship is now available in the counseling office. If you will be attending a Michigan public community or junior college, a four-year-degree-granting institution that grants a degree, certification or license then this scholarship may be for you. Application deadline is February 22, 2018. 

The Community Choice Foundation, through its scholarship program, supports local students who want to build their lives and careers in Michigan. If you have a minimum GPA of 3.0, community service through volunteering or public service, and desire to live and work in Michigan after college this scholarship may be yours. Apply online at by Friday 28, 2018.

Senior women who intend to pursue a college degree in Engineering. The Society of Women Engineers has many scholarships for outstanding high school female students. Apply at Deadline is February 28, 2018. 

The 2018 NFL Alumni student-athlete scholarship program application is now available in the counseling office. Eligibility criteria included a 3.0 overall high school grade point average or an SAT minimum score of 1090. Online applications can be found at under scholarships. Deadline is March 2nd, 2018.

The 2018 Alpha Kappa Sorority Scholarship application is now available in the counseling office. You must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and a 940 composite score on your SAT. March 3, 2018 is the deadline.

The 2018 Mary Edith Robb Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority is awarding a $1,000.00 scholarship to a graduating senior who will be majoring in education this fall. Applications are now available in the counseling office. Deadline is March 16, 2018.

Schoolcraft college trustee scholarship and award of excellence scholarship information sheets are now available in the counseling office. If you have been admitted to Schoolcraft college and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. March 16, 2018 is the deadline. Apply at

LAHC Leaders advancing and helping communities is happy to announce the open enrollment for its 2018 scholarship program. Some scholarships are renewable up to 8 semesters. You must maintain a GPA of 3.5 while attending full time college. Applications are online at March 26, 2018 is the deadline.  

Advantage One Credit Union is pleased to announce the 2018 Ronald Stamper Memorial Scholarship is now available. Applications are now available in the counseling office or online by visiting Deadline is March 31, 2018.

The 2018 Parkside Credit Union Scholarship Program will award 3 $1,000 scholarships this year. Forms are available in the counseling office. Deadline is April 30, 2018.

The Stephan Wanczyk Foundation will be providing $2,000 scholarships to hard-working high school seniors with a 2.5 GPA or higher demonstrating financial need. Applications are now available in the counseling office. Deadline is May 31, 2018.

Representatives from several colleges and universities will be visiting JG throughout the next few months. This year we would like you to choose only 4 college rep visits to attend and to sign up through your counselor. 


It is the primary mission of John Glenn High School staff, parents, and community to teach all students to become a successful ROCKET (Respectful, Organized, Cooperative, Knowledgeable, Enthusiastic, Trustworthy) learners.
